Hello Canadian Unitarian and Universalist Women,
We have created this blogspot to share information about the development of a new cross-Canada organization for UU women. We hope some experienced bloggers will get involved and help us use this communication tool to explore ideas and find our common voice. This is the inaugural year for CUUWF - when better than the 50th anniversary of the CUC. Many thanks to the women who saw the need and took action.

Founding a Canadian UU Women’s Federation

WHEN THE UU WOMEN'S Federation (UUWF), an affiliate organization of the UUA, changed its focus — and again when the Canadian Unitarian Council transitioned away from the UUA — some of us hoped to develop a Canadian UU organization to address issues such as education, human rights and equality of income for women.
Tentatively, this organization is called: Canadian Unitarian Universalist Women’s Federation (CUUWF).
On May 21, 2011 at the Canadian Unitarian Council ACM in Toronto (Session A3 on the schedule), women will meet to discuss, and hopefully, approve draft bylaws to establish a national Canadian UU women’s organization and to also approve a motion to the Board of CUC for Associate status of CUUWF.
At lunch, we will celebrate gathering together as UU women and prepare an organizational framework for follow-up. (Important: the fee for lunch is $25; this cost is not included in the CUC food options. To register for this session, send your cheque to Janice Tait, 201-581 Avenue Road, Toronto, ON M4V 2K4.)
The CUUWF is looking for a representative in the Eastern Region. If you are interested or would like more information, please get in touch with Janice Tait or Ruth Patrick.
If you are not attending the CUC Annual Meeting, but are interested in receiving reports, in joining, or in supporting CUUWF e-mail Ruth Patrick, or send your name, address, and e-mail address to M. Ruth Patrick, #315, 2903 Rabbit Hill Road, Edmonton, AB T6R 3A3.
